Beach Guide

Vietnam - China Beach

There are many unspoiled, white-sand beaches anywhere in the world. There are, however, not many that can boast of a rich history. One such beach is China Beach, which became well known as an idyllic spot away from the gruesomeness of war.

During the Vietnam War, thousands of American and Australian servicemen spent their leave surfing the 30-kilometer stretch of beach 7km from the city of Danang. The famed rest and recreation facility was also the subject of a TV series of the same name aired on ABC from 1988 to 1995. Called My Khe by the locals, the beach offers some touristy infrastructure including a picturesque beachfront, the nearby Marble Mountains, the tony Furama hotel, and the Cham historic museum.
