The beach is bounded by the two towns of Zapallar and Cachagua. It has a well-captured coastline, sugary white sand, and lucid sea waters. The beach area is enclosed by tropical woods and mild winds. On the sides of the beach are several historical houses and local fishing grounds. In addition, fishers, shippers and horses, hauling conger eels from the boats, can also be seen in the beach particularly in the morning.

The area surrounding Papudo Beach is somewhat deserted especially when it is not peak season. The beach itself is quite and has a very peaceful atmosphere. This is because of the tropical weather and rather remote access. The people living there have a slow-paced lifestyle as compared to the other nearby towns. Visitors can enjoy the area’s long beach walk especially during the sunset to late morning. The place always has a low tide in its seas, which adds to its very serene environment. Horses and dogs can be seen running in the seashore.

A visitor can not leave Papudo Beach without tasting its native delicacies. This include the congrio (also known as conger eel) liver cooked in olive oil, onions, and toasts. This local delicacy is very unique and can not be found anywhere else. Many recreational activities are available on the beach. This includes sport fishing, hiking, photography, and swimming.
