Denmark – Laesoe(Læsø) Beach

Læsø ¸ is the largest island in Kattegat Bay in the North Sea, and also the name of the municipality on that island, which is situated in North Jutland County in Denmark. Læsø ¸ can be experienced aboard a bicycle or a bus in one day, and there are sufficient attractions and diversions to complete a holiday vacation. The island features various types of beaches, from beaches with large sand dunes, to sandy as well as stony beaches. Læsø ¸ offers every type of beach landscape that visitors and beachgoers are looking for. Families with children as well as young adults will find Kongestranden, located in Vesterø, appealing with its shallow and warm waters. There are no large waves and currents to endanger small children who want to bathe and play in the waters.

The beach offers a car park, toilets, shops, a restaurant and an inn. The sandy beach at Stokken, an island located off the south western tip of Læsø , is long and the water quickly gets deep. Beachgoers can collect mussels in the shallow waters, but the western portion of the beach is reserve between 15/4 to 15/7 for bird breeding season. The beach offers a parking area, and is known for nude bathing. On the other hand Storedal has a sandy beach for the family, but the beach becomes stony towards the east at Lilledal. Swimmers are advised to be careful because of the sudden change in the depth of the seabed. A barbeque for public use has been set up by the Danish Forest and Nature Agency. Other beach services include toilets, facilities for the disabled and parking area. The fine, sandy beach at Hvidebakker features relatively shallow, clear waters, different types of seaweed and plenty of sand dunes. A path from the car park to the cliff edge has been built for wheelchair-bound visitors so they cam enjoy the view overlooking the sea. Osterby Strand, west of the harbor, is suitable for adults and older children because of its deep waters. Being close to the harbor, the beach is near shops, restaurants/cafes, toilets and mini golf course.
