Martinique is apart of the Windward Islands, or the Lesser Antilles group of islands, with the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Caribbean sea to the west of the island. Beaches located south of the island features white sands lined with palm trees and sea grapes. The north end of the island has beaches with black sands. Trois-Ilets Beach is located in the village of Les Trois-Islets, a minor peninsula south of Martinique that boasts numerous small and man-made beaches.

Trois Ilets Beach Martinique

The beaches to the south of Martinique are far less crowded that the beaches built by developers in the nearby Pointe du Bout, where most tourists flock to the advantage of the various resort hotels, restaurants, cafes and marinas lining the shore. Trois-Ilets Beach is covered with white sands and lined with green and fertile vegetation of varied species. The shore sharply declines and is not protected by reefs, conditions are not ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Even so, the beach is an idyllic spot for sun worshippers and sunbathers. Other points of interest worth exploring in the town of Trois-Ilets include the Pagerie Museum, which is located on the spot where Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, was born as well as The Pottery and the house of the cane.
