The album also saw appearances from Jay-Z on “Drunk In Love,” Frank Ocean on “Superpower,” Drake on “Mine,” and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on “***Flawless.”

The full album Beyoncé features 14 tracks and 17 videos.

“I see music,” Beyoncé said while explaining her decision to make a visual album. “It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”

“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” Beyonce added. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

Demarco To Release Alternative Reggae Album

Demarco 2014 pic

Amidst a full roster of activities for the Yuletide season Dancehall & Reggae act Collin Edwards better known as Demarco is currently immersed in the studio working on material for his upcoming album.

Still untitled the proposed compilation will mark the singers’ official album debut despite emerging on the scene six years ago with hits such as ‘Fallen Soldiers’, ‘I Love My Life’ and ‘True Friend’ among a cadre of others.

Alluding to the album and the lengthy timeline Demarco says he wants to veer from the norm, but still provide an offering that fans and the wider populous will musically appreciate. The album will adopt a Alternative/Reggae format.

“I want to provide fans with something exceptional that will transcend time and geographic boundaries, I am not a fan of disposable music, hence I believe as a musician it is extremely important to take the time and effort to mold each record on the album in the best way I possibly can. If people are going to buy this it’s only fair that they receive their monies worth.”

“I want when someone downloads or puts my album into their player they can listen the entire compilation from start to finish without having to skip a song because it’s perceived as a sub-par effort,” he added.

When questioned as to why he decided to put out a Reggae album instead of a Dancehall one, Demarco said that Reggae was more global.

“This is the first of two albums. Reggae is more global than dancehall, so you want to ensure that your first effort can meet the masses. Also, I am more appreciated for my reggae tracks. Dancehall fans will not be left out, however, as plans are already in place to release a dancehall album later on,” he said.

The thirteen to fifteen track compilation will feature a number of collaborations with accomplished American and local superstars, all of whom are recipients of Grammys and other international accolades. The album is set for release in 2014 and will be exclusively produced by Demarco. The singer is known for producing some of the biggest projects in Dancehall over the last decade namely: Mission Rhythm, Shoot Out Rhythm, Side Walk University Rhythm, Gang War Rhythm, March Out Rhythm, Warning Rhythm and Pon Di Edge among others.

Meanwhile, Demarco is now gearing up for a series of performances in Belize, Bahamas and Zimbabwe. Heading into the New Year he’ll be launching a new party series dubbed ‘Fren Circle’; the event will take the format of a fortnightly gathering.
Demarco was recently nominated for a Urban Music Awards in the category of ‘Best Reggae Act’ the award show unfolded on Friday, November 22 in London , England.

Tamar Braxton Explains Why She Added “She Can Have You” On Her Christmas Album

Tamar Braxton Explains Why She Added “She Can Have You” On Her Christmas Album

Tamar Braxton’s Christmas album, “Winter Loverland,” just dropped a few days ago. Of all the songs on the album, there are four original songs, including “She Can Have You,” which is a song she sings about a girl that’s alone on Christmas.

During a recent interview, Tamar dished on why she wrote that song and said she had to do something for the single women because that was here before she met her husband Vincent. She was always alone during the holidays and couldn’t figure out why.

I had to write a song for the single women who are alone on Christmas because that was me before I met Vince. I couldn’t figure out why I was always dateless and manless on Christmas. The name of the song is called “She Can Have You,” and I chose to write a song about that because I feel like most of the times we don’t want to be by ourselves, we tend to settle. Then on December 26th, he be acting the same damn fool that he was on December 23rd.

Very thoughtful of her! Have you all picked up a copy of Winter Loverland?

Beyonce Has New Album Coming In 2013???

Beyonce Has New Album Coming In 2013???

For those of you who have been wondering when is Beyonce going to release a new album, you may not have much longer to wait.

Music producer Pharrell Williams recently spoke about Beyonce’s upcoming album, which he has been working on and is saying that it is almost ready and will be released this year.

“B’s album is crazy,” said Pharrell. “Let me tell you what it is. She’s very particular. She’s a Virgo. And she’s not going to put it out until it’s ready and feels like it’s right to her. She’s got a very specific taste. I guess that’s the reason she’s Beyoncé. Her name is recognizable around the globe and that’s huge. That comes from someone that has very particular taste. When you know what you want, you won’t stop until you get it. [Other people are hearing her album] and are like ‘Whoa.’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m almost done.’ And she’s the queen.”

No word on exactly when the album will be released or the tracklisting, but we will keep you all posted.

Who’s ready for more music from Queen Bey???

In other music news……

 photo premiere-robin-thicke-s-blurred-lines-ft-ti-and-pharrell-williams.jpg

When it comes to party music, the family of Marvin Gaye sees "Blurred Lines" of ownership. On Thursday, Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I. filed suit in California federal court against Marvin Gaye’s family and Bridgeport Music (which owns some of Funkadelic’s compositions) because both of the latter claim "Blurred Lines" stole from their compositions.

So to be clear, Marvin Gaye’s family and Bridgeport Music have made allegations that "Blurred Lines" is very similar to Marvin’s "Got to Give It Up" and Funakedlic’s "Sexy Ways."  In response to that claims, Robin and his crew have filed a lawsuit which seeks to prove that they DID NOT sample the records records and they shouldn’t have to pay any royalties because their "new" composition "reminds" listeners of something else.

THR quotes the lawsuit as saying,

There are no similarities between plaintiffs’ composition and those the claimants allege they own, other than commonplace musical elements.  Plaintiffs created a hit and did it without copying anyone else’s composition.

Sidebar, George Clinton (former leader of Funkadelic) sided with Robin and tweeted, "No sample of #Funkadelic’s ‘Sexy Ways’ in @robinthicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ – yet Armen Boladian thinks so? We support @robinthicke @Pharrell!"

We have to admit, "Blurred Lines" REALLY DOES have that "Got to Give It Up" feel.  But a "feeling" IS NOT a sample….
