MAGAZINE FAB: Dwyane Wade Speaks To JET About His Custody Battle & Relationship With Ex-Wife Siovaughn

In the latest issue of JET, Miami Heat baller Dwyane Wade opens up about raising his sons and tells how his drama-filled custody battle put a strain on his co-parenting relationship with ex-wfe Siohvaughn Funches.  We can only imagine.  See the highlights inside:

 

After penning a successful memoir on parenting, A FATHER FIRST: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball, and starring in DOVE’s "Men+Care" Fatherhood Campaign, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade opened up to JET Magazine this week about the life experiences that shaped his parenting.  And his cover shot looks damn good.

From his prolonged custody battle, to his mom’s addiction to heroin and alcohol, the gold-medal winning athlete gets candid about his role as a full-time dad.  Here are the highlights:

Wade on his reason for pushing through the difficult custody battle:
“I didn’t set out to get full custody but I wasn’t able to see my kids the way I wanted and I’m not a parent who’s going to run away from his responsibilities. I was probably a terrible husband, but I pride myself on being a good dad.”

Wade on his rocky relationship with estranged ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches:
“It’s been six years and hopefully one day she and I can get to the point where it’s a lot easier than it is now to co-parent.”

Mom Jolinda Wade on how Dwyane’s dad impacted his fathering:
"Dwyane came up not having a father around, so he didn’t think he was missing anything. But having his father take over the key role in parenting was very impactful. That was the first view he got as a young man to see what to do and what not to do.”

Dwyane on his fathering skills of his two sons Zaire, 11, and Zion, 5 and nephew Dahveon Morris, 11 (who he has legal guardianship of):

“I’m the kind of parent who asks my kids questions like what would be your ideal thing to do in the summer? This year it’s Disney World,” explains Wade, the proud father of two boys. Even though I make the final decision, I want them to feel involved. Not only in vacations but other things as well.”

 

Elsewhere in the issue, JET talks to rapper Eve about her long-awaited Lip Lock album and romance to UK millionaire Maximillion Cooper. Also, T.I. and Marvin Sapp discuss raising their sons in a special Father’s Day story.

Taye Diggs recently unveiled the "Got Milk" ad her shot with his adorable son Walker. See the ad inside and get the latest on the nasty custody battle between Deion and Pilar Sanders.

Earlier in the week, Taye Diggs attended the unveiling of the new Milk Mustache "got milk" ad campaign at Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, CA.  The unveiling showcased an adorable ad he shot with his 3-year-old son Walker as a part of Kellogg’s efforts to show the role milk’s protein plays at their breakfast table.

Also, the ad highlights the company’s efforts to share breakfast with children in need through the Share Breakfast program.  Taye spoke about the joy of shooting the ad with People saying, “Being able to shoot the Got Milk? ad with my son was one of the better times in life just because, obviously, the ad is going to last forever.”

But shooting the ad with little Walker wasn’t easy as Taye has to get "creative" in order to keep Walker’s attention.  “We had to constantly make up games and excuses just to keep him occupied So when it seems like he’s smiling, he’s actually roaring because he wanted to be a tiger.”

Things have gotten VERY nasty in the custody battle between Deion Sanders and estranged wife Pilar Sanders.  In fact, Deion stormed out of court earlier today after Pilar accused him of abusing steroids.  The tension was so high that the judge dismissed the jury so the lawyers could continue to argue the relevance of such an allegation (without causing prejudice with the jury).

During recess, Deion took to Twttier to deny any type of substance abuse saying,

And if steroid allegations weren’t enough, NBC reports both sides have accused the other of cheating during the marriage and have used witnesses to question one another’s character.  And in an interesting twist, Pilar’s lawyer called Deion’s NEW girlfriend Tracey Edmonds to the stand.  Of course Tracey was NOT there (even though she had been subpoenaed).  THAT would that have been a made-for-tv-moment though…

According to the Dallas Morning News, Pilar spent most of the day crying on the stand and has made allegations that Deion threatened her and is trying to detroy her career.  Also, she tried to build a case for why she should have full-custody.

From the looks of it, the battle will be raging for days to come.  We’ll keep you posted.

Clippers Baller Lamar Odom FALLS ASLEEP During Custody Battle With “Starter Wives Confidential” Star Liza Morales

Lamar Odom, who’s currently battling "Starter Wives Confidential" star Liza Morales for custody of their two kids, fell asleep in court today.  Get more deets on the court battle that put Lamar out for the count inside…

 

Last night, LA Clippers star Lamar Odom headed to Catch in NYC where he and Khloe Kardashian dined. But it’s today’s business that had him out of it.  The baller was in NYC to tend to his ongoing custody battle (pictured above leaving court today) with now former "Starter Wives Confidential" star Liza Morales over their two children.  A large part of thehttp://www.tmz.com/2013/03/05/lamar-odom-fighting-baby-mama-custody-cour… Visit the TMZ Store: http://tmzstore.com”> battle focuses on child support and visitation, and whether the kids are allowed to appear on their reality TV shows. Though "Starter Wives" was cancelled, the kids could potentially appear on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

And since Liza and Lamar are no longer on speaking terms, most of the fighting was done by their lawyers behind closed doors.  But while the lawyers were fighting, Lamar couldn’t find the strength to stay awake.  The NY Post says the 6 foot 10 baller had stretched out on a courthouse bench and fell asleep, only to be awakened by a Manhattan courthouse officer wo demanded him to sit up–likely checking to make sure he wasn’t a well dressed homeless man or something.  His sleepy time was blamed on "jet lag."

Although Liza isn’t speaking to Lamar, she is speaking to the rest of the world as she published an open letter in The Daily Beast where she detialed their relationship and the heartache she felt when he married Khloe.  Here’s a snippet, 

"I don’t think I’ll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach the morning I received the text message with three simple words on the screen. It read ‘I’m getting married’ and it was from the man I’d spent more than 10 years of my life with.

“Years that included us getting engaged in 2000 and becoming parents to one daughter and two sons. Yet not long after our separation Lamar Odom was getting married to Khloe Kardashian, a woman he’d met four weeks before.”

“How could the man who’d constantly given me reason after reason for why we couldn’t get married just yet now be ready to tie the knot so quickly? There aren’t words to explain how I felt that day.”

SIDEBAR: Another Kardashian husband, Kris Humphries, also dined at Catch last night (Lamar pictured above leaving), but he didn’t cross paths with Khloe and Lamar.  If they had seen each other, Lamar told TMZ he would have said "What’s Up."  How cordial.

Pilar Sanders LOSES Custody Of TWO Sons, Child Support Payments SLASHED

Pilar Sanders has lost custody of her two sons and had her child support payments slashed in half as she continues her divorce/custody battle with former NFL great Deion Sanders.  Get the deets inside…..

The end of the year hasn’t been looking great for Pilar Sanders, the estranged wife of Deion Sanders.  On Wednesday, she lost temporary custody of her two sons and had her child support slashed from $ 10,500 to $ 5,500 a month, according to Page Six.  Though Pilar retains custody of the couple’s daughter (Deion has visitation rights) it’s another crushing blow to her.  

Devastated about the decision, Pilar said, “I am sad that Deion has been able to keep my boys away from me since Oct. 26 — no Halloween, no Thanksgiving — and now he is threatening to keep them away from me for Christmas. . . . He is using our innocent children as a pawn in this ugly, ugly divorce.”

Her publicist, Kali Bowyer, said, “Pilar has become a victim of Deion’s celebrity status, which has swayed the courts and blinded justice . . . It has become evident at this point that there is an absolute prejudice against Pilar, and this has become a completely one-sided court circus.”

The way the case is playing out seems pretty similar to that of Usher vs. Tameka Raymond and does make one question whether celebrity status plays a role in how cases are decided.  We see this didn’t end well for Tameka and Pilar may be walking the same plank. 

So what’s her next move?  Pilar’s attorney is trying to have the couple’s 13-year marriage annulled and have all their assets declared community property. They’ll meet back in court to fight over custody on January 9, 2013.  Good luck on that annulment.

Royce Reed BITES BACK At HATERS, Says CUSTODY BATTLE Is About The BEST For Braylon

Royce Reed has taken to Twitter to respond to people with negative talk about her decision to ask a judge to make Dwight Howard pay her legal bills.  Find out what she said inside….

We told you previously that Royce Reed wants a judge to make Dwight Howard pay for her portion of their custody battle….and some people felt some kind of way about that.  So with folks bashing Royce on Twitter and across the blogs, she responded with a tweet and post saying,

"We will never struggle… Period! Braylon will always have the best! That’s what I fight for!"

While Royce is saying she needs money to fight for what’s best for her son Braylon, it seems that most folks are jumping on the "gold-digger" bandwagon when this is not about getting more child support (at least not this part).  Royce is fighting tooth and nail for full custody….because Dwight has filed for full custody for himself.  And no mother wants her child taken from her.

And we see that Usher and his money allowed him to get full custody in his battle with Tameka Raymond…so Royce does have reason to be concerned.

Former "BBW" star Royce Reed has asked a judge to make her baby’s daddy, NBA superstar Dwight Howard, foot her legal bills so she can fight him in court.  Get the deets inside…..

Dancer and former reality star Royce Reed needs helps handling her mounting custody battle bills and she wants her child’s father, LA Lakers star Dwight Howard, to pay for them.  Yes…she wants Dwight to pay up to help her fight himself.

Royce, who recently tweeted a pic of their son, Braylon, trying on his ringbearer’s tux (above), is currently fighting Dwight in court (because he wants to take full custody) and she’s already got a bill for $ 44,113.50.

She filed papers in Florida recently and asked the judge to force Dwight to pay her legal bills because he can simply outspend her and keep her tied up in court. Royce claims that Dwight makes over $ 1.3 million per month, so this is clearly not a fair fight.  She has a point.

Royce expects to spend an additional $ 60K in the short term (taking her up to $ 100K) and hopes the judge will see it her way and force Dwight to level the playing field.  No word on if Dwight wants full custody simply to avoid child support payments.

But Royce says Braylon fell asleep on the floor because she wouldn’t watch cartoons with him.  Ha.

There’s good news and bad news. The bad news is that Tameka Raymond has been denied a re-trial in her custody battle with Usher. The good news is that Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez seem to be in great spirits as Halle’s battle rages on. Get more inside….

Unfortunately for Tameka Raymond, things just won’t go her way in her battle for primary custody of her two sons with ex-husband Usher.  First, she lost primary custody and now, she’s been denied a retrial.

Though Tameka claimed that Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane was baised since Usher’s lawyer had donated to her 2008 campaign, the judge countered that this was PUBLIC knowledge and Tameka sould have known about this BEFORE the trial.  Womp.

But always the fighter….Tameka is pressing on and plans to appeal. 

 

Meanwhile, in other custody news…..

Halle Berry is still engaged in a nasty battle with ex Gabriel Aubry over her request to move to Paris with fiancee Olivier Martinez and to take daughter, Nahla, with her. 

 

Despite the turmoil, Halle and her beau looked fresh and fab as they took a stroll through Malibu, CA for a little shopping and lunch at Taverna Tony.

Halle rocked a comfy white dress with large cut-outs revealing a blue bikini.

The couple then shared a laugh over something on Halle’s phone as she sipped champagne.

Usher FILES MOTION To BLOCK Tameka’s Request For Child Custody RE-TRIAL

With Tameka Raymond hoping to reopen their child custody battle that she lost recently, singer Usher has filed a motion that he hopes will prevent that from happening. Deets inside…

According to TMZ, Usher Raymond has filed a motion he hopes will stop Tameka Raymond’s bid to get a new trial in their child support case.  

Tameka is claiming that since Usher’s lawyer previously gave campaign contributions to the judge in their case, his ruling was biased.  So she wants another shot at proving her case. 

Usher cried foul claiming that her motion was "an assault on the integrity of the court."  He argues that it would be time-consuming for every judicial case to be reversed simply because of campaign contributions.  

He added that the motion "constitutes a continuum of [Tameka's] vile and unsupported claims that every person who dared testify against her … is biased and tainted."

Goodness.  We’ll see how this turns out…… 

BREAKING: Tameka Raymond LOSES CUSTODY Of Her Two Youngest Sons

Tameka Raymond‘s world just went from very bad to even worse.  Today in court, Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane in Atlanta has ruled that Tameka will no longer have full custody of her two youngest sons, Usher V & Naviyd.  Her ex-husband, Usher, will become the primary parent.

 

Deets inside…

It’s been a long custody battle that pre-dates the sudden death of Tameka’s son Kile Glover.  So today in an Atlanta courtroom, the ruling was that Tameka loses the custody war and primary custody of her sons.

During the courtroom battle, according to TMZ, Tameka claimed her ex-husband Usher was an absentee father who was always on the road.  And she often alluded on Twitter to the fact he and his girlfriend/employee Grace Miguel simply wanted ot take the kids away from Tameka.

Usher claimed Tameka was irresponsible and inattentive. 

Seems the judge took Mr. Raymond’s side.  The kids will be with him primarily.  And Tameka does maintain some custodial rights that have not yet been detailed. 

Story developing…
