MOVIE FAB: Sanaa Lathan & Terrence Howard STARRING In “Macbett” + Halle Berry REPRISING “STORM” For “X-MEN: Days of Future Past”

The Best Man stars Sanaa Lathan and Terrence Howard are teaming up again for a remake of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.  Get the deets inside and find out what famous role Halle Berry is set to reprise…

 

Sanaa Lathan and Terrence Howard have signed on to join Blair Underwood and Evan Ross in a remake  of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The retooled film will be called Macbett and will shoot on location in Jamaica and Puerto Rico in September 2013.

Terrence, who also serves as executive producer of the film, will be working with writer/director Aleta Chappelle (who’ll make history as the first Black woman to direct a film version of the story).  Indiewire posted  the film’s  synopsis:

"after a gallant military victory, General Macbett (Wipes) encounters the “Weird Sisters,” who are the spirit daughters of Mother Africa and reign over fire, water, earth and sky. They delight in manipulating Macbett by feeding him predictions of royal titles including “King.” Macbett soon becomes obsessed with ambition, as does his beautiful and ruthless wife Lady Macbett (Lathan) .

"As Macbett and his Lady spiral downward, indulging in treachery and political assassinations, they are soon haunted by their murderous deeds and driven mad. In a true exemplification of a tragedy, Macbett is defeated by his own zealous thirst for power, a heartbreaking end to a once beloved Hero".

And in other news, Sanaa and Terrence will hopefully reprise their memorable role in The Best Man sequel called Best Man Holiday coming soon.

It’s official, Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry will return to the X-Men franchise in the role of Storm (which she originated in the first film) for the latest installment X-Men: Days of Future Past.  She told "Access Hollywood", "I’m in. I think I’m in. I am excited. I love Storm. That’s one of my favourite characters that I’ve played. And people love that character as well."

That sentiment was later confirmed with director Bryan Singer tweeted,

Kelly Rowland hopped on a an unexpected track with Michael Bolton.  Check it inside, plus Wale‘s new video and the new trailer of Kerry Washington‘s new movie The Peeples….

 

Kelly Rowland was tapped by legendary singer Michael Bolton to be the second half of his duet for the remake of "Aint No Mountain High Enough."  The original 1960′s iconic track, originally recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, was remade for Michael’s Motown tribute album Ain’t No Mountain High Enough: Tribute Hitsville.

In other music news, Wale dropped the video for his hit song "No Days Off."  It may be over a year late as the album the song appears on, Ambition, dropped back in 2011, but it seems like the D.C. rapper wanted to put his tour footage to music.

Meanwhile, Wale’s third studio album, The Album About Nothing, drops this summer.

 

And you’ve seen the promo posters already, now check out the trailer for the new movie Tyler Perry‘s pushing–The Peeples.  It stars Kerry Washington and Craig Robinson, and seems to be a black family’s take on Meet The Parents.  Check out David Allan Grier in action as the overprotective dad above.

Despite the backlash KeKe Palmer caught once she was announced to play Chilli in the upcoming TLC Bipopic, the actress/singer dished to us about what’s going down during the first weeks of shooting….

TheYBF.com’s caught up with the gorge 19-year-old KeKe Plamer on the red carpet of the recent Essence Black Women In Hollywood brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  And she let us know how the filming will go for the much anticipated biopic about singing group, now officially named, “CRAZY, SEXY, COOL: THE TLC STORY.” 

KeKe explained:

"I’m going to fly out tonight to Atlanta and going to meet the girl some time this week. The first few of weeks were going to be doing a lot of choreography. I’ve already talked to Drew [Sidora] and Lil Mama, and were just going to get in there and do it. All of us are fans, so that gives it something. We want to do great because we want to represent who we love. This is exciting for me, this is a really huge deal."

And it sounds like she’s learned how to handle the negativity by looking to the fab women ahead of her.  KeKe told us about being in awe of the women at the luncheon saying,

"You see these women who wrote the blueprint for themselves. They have pioneered their own careers and you can see that it’s possible. As long as you stay focused on what you’re trying to do, it’s coming from your heart."

The Charles Stone-directed movie will air on VH1.

 

We also caught up with Oprah on the red carpet who revealed why this brunch was such a full circle experience for her:

"It feels like a full circle moment. Essence was the first magazine to put me on the cover. It was back in 1996 before my international show. So it feels like I’m coming home."

Newly single rapper Lil’ Kim has a few things stuffed in her Christmas stocking that she plans to give to fans during her "12 Days Of Christmas" campaign.  

On the first day of Christmas, the Queen Bee tweeted fans a new photo of herself saying, “On the 1st day of Xmas my Queen Bee gave to me: An exclusive never before seen picture just for U!!! Muah!!! :) ”

Fans of the Brooklyn rapper, who was a favorite of the recently deceased singer Jenni Rivera, should stay tuned to see what she has in store for the rest of the holiday season.  I’m sure these gifts will be….interesting.

 

GUILTY!!!! Barry Bonds SENTENCED To 30 Days Of House Arrest For Lying About Steroid Use!

Remember when Barry Bonds was hitting home run after home run AND giving us the "BODY OF LIFE?" Well….turns out the baseball "legend" and his muscular swings at bat had a little "help." Now he’s been convicted of lying to the feds about his "steroid" use. Deets inside…..

Earlier today, Barry Bonds was sentenced to 30 days of house arrest for lying to a federal grand jury during a 2003 investigation into steroid use. He was also sentenced to two years probation, 250 hours of community service and was ordered to pay a $ 4,000 fine.

The baseball great was found guilty in April of felony obstruction of justice when a jury found he lied during a 2003 federal investigation into alleged steroid use in MLB. 

And though he won a record-setting seven MVP awards and holds the records for both most home runs in a season (73) and home runs in a career (762)…..there will always be doubt.

Could he have done it on his own…….or was it the "help?"

SIDEBAR:  Barry was always a "big" guy but towards the end, those muscles did get a little outrageous.

Jalen Rose Sprung from Jail After 16 Days

After spending the past 16 days behind bars … Jalen Rose is a free man!

According to TMZ, Former NBA star Jalen Rose was released from a Detroit jail this morning — after spending 16 days behind bars stemming from a DUI arrest back in March.

Rose — who currently works for ESPN as an NBA analyst — was originally sentenced to 20 days in the slammer … after pleading guilty to driving while intoxicated during a March 11 crash.

TMZ broke the story … the 38-year-old ex-Fab Fiver was driving along an icy roadway in Michigan with a female passenger when he lost control of his vehicle, flipping the car.

After the judge basically threw the book at Rose — Jalen’s lawyer called the sentence “outrageous” … and an “abuse of discretion.”
