While most have forgiven, few have forgotten Chris Brown‘s pre-Grammy assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna three years ago. Now, hot on the heels of a rumored rekindled romance (at least in anonymous Twitter form), reports surfaced saying Rihanna is fine with former flame Brown attending this year’s Grammy ceremony.
Brown is nominated for three Grammys this year (Best R&B Album, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song), and has also been rumored to possibly perform at the ceremony — and so is RiRi. ”Rihanna is also nominated for several Grammys, and she performed at the Grammy nomination concert recently, and she could be going to the awards ceremony as well,” a source told Radar Online. ”Rihanna thinks that Chris should attend the Grammys if he wants to, she has absolutely no qualms with him being there.”
This is in line with Rihanna’s lifting of her restraining order against Brown — which the ‘We Found Love’ powerhouse initially did specifically for awards ceremony situations.
The source does say, however, that despite rumors of a potential reunion, there won’t be evidence of it at the show. “Don’t expect them to hang out, but she has moved on from that horrible night,” the source said, “and doesn’t want it to define either one of them as people.”
While rumors were abound that Brown was banned from “Music’s Biggest Night” following his battery charge, a source told Radar Online that those reports are false. “Chris was nominated for three Grammys last year, he didn’t go because of scheduling conflicts,” the source said. “Chris was never banned from going to the Grammys. Was he welcome with open arms in the past? No, but he was never banned. Chris wouldn’t have even been nominated if such a ban existed. Producers of the Grammys recognize the hard work that Chris has done in fulfilling his legal obligations stemming from the incident. Chris is amazingly talented, and he is honored that his work has been nominated.”
