Janet Jackson ROCKS FUR In Times Square, Named PETA’S Grinch Of The Year + Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol LEADS The Box Office With $26.5 million

Janet Jackson, who’s rocking Blackglama fur on a new billboard in Times Square, was dubbed PETA’s "Grinch of the Year for 2011."  Get the deets inside and find out how Paula Patton’s MI3 flick stacked up at the box office.

Though Janet Jackson looks fabulous on her new Blackglama billboard in Times Square, she’s pissed off the folks at PETA.

The group named her Grinch of the Year for 2011 for her work with Blackglama.  PETA released this statement saying,

"When Janet Jackson had her infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own – unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career).  Ms. Jackson, you’re just plan nasty.”

Well…..I think Ms. Jackson looks radiant in her ad.

And in movie news…..

Even though Janet Jackson is inspiring people to be healthier with her NutriSystem campaign, the singer has a lot of animal rights activists shaking their heads in disapproval. The ‘Rhythm Nation’ singer has been named the 2011 ‘Grinch of the Year’ by PETA for choosing to wear animal products such as leather and fur.

According to NME, Ms. Jackson earned the title for her not-so-animal-friendly costume choices as well as her involvement with luxury fur brand Blackglama. Jackson also teamed up with the company for her own fashion line of fur pieces back in November, enraging PETA supporters everywhere.

Speaking about Jackson’s ‘Grinch of the Year’ title, PETA spokeswoman Wendy Wegner said, “While the holidays may be known as the season of giving and peace on earth, that’s not always the case for our animal friends. When Janet Jackson had her infamous wardrobe malfunction during Super Bowl XXXVIII, at least what popped into view of 170 million onlookers belonged to her, unlike the animal skins she drapes herself in, which are as dead as her fashion taste and her career.” Ouch.

On the contrary, PETA also just released their nominees for 2011?s ultimate do-gooders. Both Kesha and Justin Bieber are nominated for the Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist award for their unrelenting animal rights efforts and their support of PETA’s mission to save animals from cruelty worldwide. Winners will be announced on Jan. 17, so stay tuned.
