Drake Covers GQ Magazine; Talks Love, Sex, Chris Brown Beef, and Bigger Success

The last time Drake spoke with GQ, he ended up looking like a creep given he hit on the journalist interviewing him in the corniest way imaginable. In his latest cover story, though, Aubrey scales it back a bit and instead chooses to focus on the purpose of the story: his damn self.

Yes, Drake opens up about sex and promiscuity, love, his rift with Chris Brown, and criticism he faces from his rap peers.

On why he isn’t laying it low and spreading it wide:

“You know the way fighters don’t f**k before the fight? Sometimes I feel like I’m so focused on training my body and getting my mind right to create this album that sex isn’t one of my main priorities. If someone is around that I know and trust, I’m down. But I’m not going to end up with some stranger at this party.”

On what he makes of other rappers criticizing him:

“You notice they don’t criticize the music itself, though…I’m okay with that.”

On his beef with Chris Brown:

“I don’t want my name to be synonymous with that guy’s name. I really don’t. I wish we could sit down, just like you and me are right now, and talk it out man-to-man. But that’s not going to happen. I’m not confrontational, but if someone challenges, I’m not going to back down. … It’s embarrassing, the amount of media coverage. Two rappers fighting over the woman. He’s not even a rapper, but still, it’s the last way you want your name out there. It distracts from the music. But he’s made me the enemy, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay, I guess. … If I think about it too much, I feel it wrapping around my foot, like I get a feeling it could end really badly.”

On what he learned about love during a lunch with Will Smith:

“I had lunch the other day with someone I extremely look up to. Okay—I had lunch with Will Smith, and listening to him talk, it made me think I don’t know what love is. He said something profound. He said love is when you become one and you need that person. It’s not about wanting anymore, you need that person. Hearing that, I don’t know if I’ve ever felt that way. I’ve held women in very high regard almost to the point where I felt like I needed them for a very long time, but I don’t know if I comprehend it yet, and I’m okay with that. I’ve made a lot of music about love being the only thing I’m missing. I think this is the first album I’ve made saying, I’m okay. I’m enjoying it right now. Maybe this is my time to grind it out, make a run for it and add some memories with my boys.”

On making $ 250 million by the time he’s 29:

“I feel this great responsibility to see how far can we take it, how out of reach can I set that bar for whoever comes after. While I’m here, I’m gonna keep pushing that bar higher and higher up and make you really work for it.”

Better, but he’s still a weirdo and there’s nothing wrong with making new friends, you guys. Check out the full interview over at GQ.com.

Tamar Braxton Dishes On What Inspired Her To Write “Love And War”

Tamar Braxton Dishes On What Inspired Her To Write “Love And War”

Everyone loves Tamar Braxton’s single “Love and War” because it speaks to so many people and their relationship.

During a recent interview with Flaunt magazine, Tamar dished on what inspired her to write “Love and War.”

The first season of Tamar and Vince [Vince and I] went through a lot in our relationship. We call ourselves Velcro because from the moment we decided we were going to be together, we’ve been together every single day. When Vince got sick, our relationship changed. We started going through a lot of relationship problems and communication problems. When I was writing “Love and War,” it wasn’t a negative space, but it was an honest space. This was the first time I had experienced not just love but passion. There’s a difference between love and passion, and I didn’t know that.

Let’s Discuss: Ciara Hangs Out with Future’s Baby-Mothers; Promotes “Family and Love”

Let’s Discuss: Ciara Hangs Out with Future’s Baby-Mothers; Promotes “Family and Love”

Modern Family? Diddy and Lil’ Wanye most certainly have set the bar for baby mothers and “wifeys” all getting along. Recently Ciara was spotting flicking it up on Instagram with Future’s baby mothers India and Brittni (both photoed on the far right and left of the photo), as well as with Future’s sister, Tia. The Body Party singer, who is currently engaged to the rapper-producer, is also rumored to be expecting her first child by him as well. Cici posted the picture up on Instagram with the caption: “#MyFamily. @indiajai. @tia_treon. @thebrittni. #Honest #Love ?”

Of course, many people started commenting on what they feel is the sad reality of young (black) men and women promoting the casualty of multiple baby mothers, broken families and mixed homes as a result of the latter. They started comparing Ciara’s situation to that of Diddy and Lil’ Wayne (who, between the both of them, have fathered 9 children between 7 baby mothers) or even went as far as to call the women “sister-wives.” Others applauded Cici for accepting and embracing what is ultimately the reality of her life and the lives of many other men and women. Eithe rway, we can always count on Cici to promote positivity.

How do you all feel about this photo and the message behind it? I feel there is nothing wrong in accepting a mixed family home but I do think there is caution that needs to be taken when coming into a situation in which other women (with young children) are involved. For example, the age of your man’s child(ren) is a reflection of how long he has (or has not) been dealing with this woman. Basically, if your man’s child is an infant or toddler, that means that he was only recently with the baby mother. It also means it’s time to get down to whether or not his last situation was serious or rather, a casualty, and what that seriousness or casualty says of your man (relationship hopper vs. promiscuity and unsafe sex). Basically, if it was all good just a week ago with them, what does that say for ya’ll? Check out another picture of the ladies and sound off your feedback below!

Let’s Discuss: Love and Hip Hop NY Season 4 Premiere and Audience Panel [Exclusive]

Let’s Discuss: Love and Hip Hop NY Season 4 Premiere and Audience Panel [Exclusive]

So who caught the rapture that was last night’s Love and Hip Hop 4 premiere? Yesterday I caught the exclusive premiere of Love and Hip Hop NY season 4 along with the cast themselves and a room full of selected audience members. Following the debut of episode 1, the cast members (some familiar faces and many new ones) sat down on stage with Hot 97  to answer audience questions in “panel” formation. All I can say is that it looks like Love and Hip Hop NY season 4 is in the running to match Love and Hip Hop Atlanta on the level of crazy. Let’s highlight a few things that caught viewers’ interest the most, below:

Rapper Peter Gunz, Tara and Amina- Rapper Peter Gunz, former Bronx rapper and friend to Rick Dollaz (of course) is in a love triangle to beat all love triangles. While living with his baby mother of 13 years, in whom he has two children with, he has also started an affair with his artist, singer Amina. Although their love affair has only been going on for a little over a year, Amina revealed that her and Peter got married, and says she has the papers and tattoo (revealed on last night’s episode) to prove it. Ouch!

Yandy Smith- Boss chick Yandy is still on her grind and holding down the family fort while fiancee Mendeecees Harris is still doing time inside. Yandy, however, revealed to a fan and on Twitter that Mendeecees will not be doing anywhere near 20 years. She also revealed to another audience member that she has a special new project coming up and will be looking to work with new artists very soon. Does this girl ever stop hustling? Wow!

Erica Mena- Is currently in a realtionship with female model, Cyn Santana. Erica revealed last night in the season’s opener that she is still in love with Rich and that he’ll always have a special place in her heart, but that she is committed to her current situation with Santana. Mena mentioned during her panel discussion to a fan that she courted Cyn by sending the model a bottle of Patron to her table at the club, while also making her interest in Cyn very clear. The rest is history. Erica Mena also says that she hopes being an open bisexual in the industry can be an inspiration to other women hiding their sexuality on camera.

We can also expect K. Michelle to be on this season, although she was only on last night’s episode for a brief second. Tahiry and Joe Budden return for Season 4 as a live-in couple as well. Should be fun! What else did you catch that caught your attention? Sound off below.

Girls Love Givenchy! Lala, Lily and Mo- Who Rocked Their ‘Bambi’ Top Best?

Wam, boom, BAMBI! Looks like Fall’s latest fashion trend is inspired by Disney movie icon, ‘Bambi.’ Brought to you by “Givenchy’, the abstract image of the animated deer and a not-so-familiar woman mash-up has been plastered on this Fall’s collection of sweatshirts and t-shirts, which has been making its rounds to almost every celebrity’s closet. The shirts and sweaters retail for anywhere between $ 574-$ 1375. Wow!

Above, we have TV-personality Lala Anthony rocking her lace-sweatshirt with a pair of leather skinny pants and pointed-black bumps. Grammy-award winning singer and third-time mommy, Monica, dressed hers down with the all-over cotton version of the sweatershirt with a pair of leather leggings and Christian Louboutin sneakers. Actress Lily Collins opted for an over-sized (quite possibly “mens”) version of the sweatshirt and rocked hers as a dress, similar to how it was modeled on the runway, minus the waist belt. She made this casual look elegant with a pair of high heel sandals. Cute!

So who rocked the printed look best? Sound off below. And in the meantime, peep how Beyonce rocked her t-shirt below!

Adrienne Bailon’s “I’m In Love with a Church Girl” Official Trailer [VIDEO]

“I’m kind of in-between churches.” Meet Miles Montego, played by rapper Ja Rule in the new movie “I’m in Love with a Church Girl,” starring singer and actress, Adrienne Bailon. Adrienne, who will be playing Ja’s love interest, “Vanessa” is a God-fearing church woman who is trying to convince her new man the power behind conversion and giving one’s life to Christ. As Rule’s character, a “retired drug dealer” finds himself in between the battle of good and evil, the sweet and loving Bailon convinces Ja to “Come as you are” to church and to the Lord. The movie is inspired by real-life events and shows a flaw that many of us have. That flaw being that we feel church is only a hub for those who are saved and full of faith. When in reality, it is a warm and welcoming haven that beckons those who are in need of fixing the most. Well, at least it should be.

“I’m in Love with a Church Girl” actually manages to dodge the cliche of movies with similar stories line and is actually packed with some promising action and of course, drama. The movie will be in selected theaters October 18th. Check out the official trailer below.
