Nicki Minaj Won’t Be Nice To You Just Because You’re Hot

Considering she cursed out her co-worker on her job, routinely takes jabs at her peers, and has a knack for snapping on anyone who asks her a question she doesn’t care for, it’s not surprising to hear Nicki Minaj say she doesn’t give a damn whether people in the industry adore her.

In her Teen Vogue cover story, Nicki says this about the entertainment industry:

“People treat this business like it’s high school. It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered. I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.”

Somewhere Mariah Carey is going, “No shit, dahling.”

On how her childhood influenced the way she deals with people now:

“Every time my parents fought, my mother would have us move and I would have to go to a new school, which meant I’d have to face the task of making new friends. I dreaded it. I had butterflies in my stomach each time: Are people going to like or hate me? … Sometimes there’d be a fight, sometimes not. I let people know I wasn’t going to be pushed around.”

There’s a way to show assertiveness without coming across as Hip-Hop’s Cruella de Vil. Sometimes Nicki straddles that line well; other times she leaps across the line and pushes everyone out of her way. On the latter, you know, HB, they have this magical thing called therapy that helps you overcome poor interpersonal skills attributed to your past. Just a thought.

On how Nicki learned to stop reading everything people say about her on the Internet:

“My journey to who I am today began on MySpace. I love getting real opinions from people.

“I used to read the bad things people said about me,” says Minaj, a regular on Twitter. “Then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power.

“I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison.”

OK, I have nothing sarcastic or jackass-like to say here. She actually makes a pretty really good point!

Miley Cyrus: People Wanted to Make Me the White Nicki Minaj

In her Billboard cover story, appropriately titled “Miley 2.0,” Miley Cyrus claims that there were numerous people in the music industry who wanted to mold her into “the white Nicki Minaj.”

Bless anyone’s heart for thinking that could ever happen. The only pop star who can get away with sort of rapping right now is Ke$ ha. I suppose a few of y’all would like to suggest Iggy Azalea fill that role, but I’d rather y’all not.

Anyhow, here’s a few excerpts on where Miley’s going musically and why she’s not necessarily going too left with her audience about going Black in sound.

On her new music:

Cyrus is quick to point out that, having left one bandwagon, she’s not about to jump on another. “I’ve always wanted country-rock influences, but now I’m moving over to a more urban side,” she says. “It’s not a hip-hop album, though-it’s a pop album. I’m not coming in trying to rap. It’s more like, ‘I don’t see any girls out there doing what Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing.’” Cyrus pauses, giggling. “We’ve been calling it ‘count-step,’ because it’s like country, dubstep and a little trap,” she says. “I love the Lumineers, but I also love French Montana, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa and Dolly Parton. If you could put Dolly, some Adele and Juicy J together, you’d have that weird balance.”

On not going completely “urban”:

“A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj,” Cyrus says. “That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ‘hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.” To that end, Edge is particularly excited about “Wrecking Ball”-a defiant power ballad produced by Dr. Luke with a thrilling vocal performance. “We were inspired by OneRepublic, and the way Timbaland used to do those big ballads,” Cyrus says. Edge adds: “When Miley came to us she had really good songs already, including ‘Wrecking Ball,’ which blew us away. It could be a career song for her.”

On what she hopes to accomplish with her forthcoming album:

“I want my record to be the biggest record in the world, and I’ve given everything to get here, even down to friends and family and relationships-I’ve just put this music first. That’s been kind of a trip: It’s not like I’m losing who I am-I actually found out more about who I am by making this music. I’m going on a journey, and that’s more than a lot of 20-year-olds can say. And I’m still going to change so much. Because I’m not the same person I was six months ago-I’m not even the same person I was two weeks ago.”

I’m confused. What Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing have nothing to do with trap music or country or dub-step. However, I’d love to hear a Dolly Parton track featuring Juicy J. Show me what you got, Miley … though you needn’t twerk it. Nah, boo.

Nicki Minaj on Men: “They Want To Be Pet Like A Dog”

In her Marie Claire cover story, HB Nicki Minaj spoke about a number of things — including her memorable, albeit brief, stint on American Idol, the next phase of her career, and why you need to treat a man like a dog.

On American Idol:

“The perception that people had of me completely changed because there are no cue cards, there’s no script, it wasn’t me performing a song. It was, ‘Let’s see your real personality.’ My core is a genuine human being who roots for other people. I didn’t want to blow smoke up their ass. I wanted every contestant to leave with something that they could remember.”

On doing “three more albums” before she moving on to acting:

“If I can do that, I’ll feel complete. One day, when I start getting a couple gray hairs, maybe it will all be only acting. I just never know. . . I’ve kind of become the poster child for doing the things that no one expects.”

On learning to enjoy the moment and prep for the future:

“For the first time, I allowed myself to feel proud of where music had gotten me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. You feel the need to pay it forward, which starts with analyzing yourself with a true desire to grow. I was praying every day, ‘You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child.’ I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me, because some people have this life for a year or five or 10 — and a lot of them lose it. I didn’t want to become a person who wasn’t enjoying the moment.”

On love:

“Don’t chase any man. Put your school first. Men love independent women. You don’t have to be a bitch, but there’s nothing wrong with it at times. And: Men are kids at heart. They want to be nourished and pet like a dog.”

Nicki Minaj Stops By “The Queen Latifah Show”

Nicki Minaj is one of the top female rappers in the game right now. The self-proclaimed Barbie stopped by “The Queen Latifah Show” and chatted it up with her about her career, business ventures and even gave the Queen her props for paving the way for female rappers like herself.

Absolutely not, you’ve opened so many doors for me and so many other women and it’s insane because I always reference you when I talk to my female rappers who have kind of paved the way in terms of a business woman and mogul and just all around entertainer and to be sitting here doing your show is just a great moment for hip hop, so thank you for having me.

 photo love-more-video-1.jpg

Chris Brown has released the "Love More" video featuring Nicki Minaj.  Watch the dance-friendly visual inside…..

In the video for "Love More", the latest offering from Chris Brown’s upcoming X album (August 26th),  rapper Nicki Minaj and comedian Nick Swardson join Breezy for an visually stimulating club experience.  Chris, who directed the clip, tweeted, “While you guys kill yourself over bullshit ill keep directing stuff like this! Thx team breezy!!”

In other Chris Brown news, the singer has been ordered to complete an additional 1,000 hours of community service based on the LA County DA’s findings that he falsified his community service reports last year.

You’ll recall that the DA accused Breezy of violating his parole by submitting the false reports and they wanted him thrown in jail!  Luckily for Chris, the judge told him that as long as he completes the 1,000 hours, his probation will be reinstated and will officially end in August 2014.

Although the singer was mum during his court appearance, he had a few choice words for haters on Twitter.  Shortly after the judge’s verdict, Chris tweeted a message to his haters, "#FWPT fuck what people think."
